Description
Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry (IRMS) is an analytical technique that allows precise measurement of the isotopic ratios of stable light elements (C, N, O, S, and H). Analyses are performed at the CIRCE laboratory using two Thermo Fisher Delta V Advantage mass spectrometers, equipped with an electron impact ion source, high-resolution magnetic selection, and Faraday cup detectors for simultaneous measurement of multiple isotope ratios.
The system provides high sensitivity, signal stability, and low interferences, operating in both Dual Inlet and Continuous Flow modes, supported by various peripherals (EA, TC/EA, GC/C-TC, Gas Bench) for analyzing solid, liquid, gaseous samples, and specific compounds.
Key applications include determining the origin of materials, studying environmental and paleoclimatic processes, food traceability, and artwork characterization.
